Monday Night Gig DVD Release Screening

MONDAY NIGHT GIG TO BE RELEASED ONLINE AND DVD SIMULTANEOUSLY THIS MARCH!

Cast and crew will be in attendance at the Hollywood Theatre, Friday March 7th for the screening that commemorates both releases.

MONDAY NIGHT GIG is the second feature from filmmakers Ian and Tyson Smith, also know as The Smith Brothers, following their cult hit THE SEXY CHEF. MONDAY NIGHT GIG is a comedic take on the struggling working man’s band that spans eight years in the life of the French, an aspiring rock band made up misfits, that keep trying to make it big as rock stars. “Trying to keep a band of weird personalities together and trying to make it big, isn’t much different from trying to make an indie film,” said writer Ian Smith. “I think the only difference is there’s less drinking while filming”

In an unusual move, the Smith Brothers plan on releasing MONDAY NIGHT GIG in segments on their official website, www.mondaynightgig.com, beginning on Monday, March 3rd and continuing each subsequent Monday for the next year, for absolutely no cost to the fan. “We wanted to do something a little different,” said director Tyson Smith, “to stand out among other indie filmmakers. MNG speaks to a lot of people and this’ll be their chance to discover the movie.” Introductions and previews of the next chapter will be specifically created for the web release and feature narration by many of the cast.

At the same time, DVDs will be available for sale online and includes a behind the scenes short, deleted scenes and photos of the fake band posters made for The French’s “tour.” “We actually ended up spending less on MNG then on THE SEXY CHEF and yet it looks even better and more professional,” said producer C.K. Lichenstein II. “Still, we have to try and recoup SOME money from our film, so why not DVDs? If they like the ‘tastes’ they get online for free, they’ll love the whole movie!”

In honor of the DVD and Internet releases of MONDAY NIGHT GIG their will be a screening at the scenic Hollywood Theatre on Friday, March 7th at 9:30 PM. “The Hollywood Theatre is like an old home for us,” said Tyson, “and are incredibly supportive of truly independent film.” Much of the cast and crew will be in attendance and DVDs will be available for sale at the screening
