The first webisode/opening of the film will be a little longer than most of the other webisodes. I didn’t want to break up the title montage sequence.
We shot the 1st act last (so we could cut hair to show the movie takes place over many years) and had a scene with Tom2’s dad (played by John Steinkamp). He was so good (you’ll see later in act 3) that we had to write an additional scene for him, which ended up being the first scene of the movie.
I really like how the movie opens now, but it did take a lot of work to get where we are at. We ended up cutting 15-20 minutes out of the movie (much of which is now in the montage of the band coming together). It was a hard decision to make, but in the end we had to go with what made the film better.
Hey all! If’n you’re reading this, thanks for stopping by!
I’m the writer half, so I suppose I’m to blame for all the cutting. Much of what represented the first act worked better on paper. Cutting is painful, but ya gotta do what you gotta do. I wish we could have found a way not to spring the montage on ya right off the bat, but that’s the way the cards fell.
If you look, you can see whole scenes and actors who are now missing from the rest of the film. Ah, continuity. We hardly knew ya.
